SpotLight
The Building Industry Association (BIA) recently submitted legislature (SB 1185) to the State Senate that would extend the life of expiring subdivision maps for a period of two years. Subdivision maps are the principal vehicles used by local governments to entitle proposed housing development projects and as activity in the States' housing markets has slowed substantially many of thes maps are set to expire before the houses are built. If the maps are left to expire, the future housing contained in those maps will be taken out of the market place, potentially forcing homebuilders to start the time consuming entitlement process all over again, causing increased costs and delays once the housing market recovers. to find out more about this legislation visit the Building Industry Association of San Diego web page
